“Oh my God you guys!” Norfolk based Threshold Theatre Company we’re all-singing and all-dancing at Norwich Playhouse with their latest production Legally Blonde the Musical.

Based on the hit 2001 film of the same name and starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde tells, or rather sings, the story of fashionista sorority president Elle Woods as she enrols at Harvard Law School, not for law, but love.

Rebecca Jillings was charming and as leading lady Elle Woods, supported well by her girls of DeltaNu. I particular enjoyed Charley Smith’s portrayal of Paulette, and sleezy Professor Callahan (Nick Bird) was strong throughout. Oh and how could I forget the four-legged stars of the show!

The sets gave a resemblance to Barbie, but this fitted well in a pink, fluffy and American production, although the bulkiness of theses created problems for scene changes. Act one sound troubles and costume change delays were forgotten by the second act.

This musical is one of my favourites – sassy, full of energy and fast-paced and Threshold Theatre Company produced just that.

Legally Blonde runs at Norwich Playhouse until Saturday 1 June 2019. Click here for more information and tickets or call the box office on 01603 598598.
