Based on the book by Kate Pankhurst, Fantastically Great Women is a new pop-musical bursting it’s way in to theatres across the UK to share some her-story with us all.

While on a museum trip with her school, ten-year-old Jade rebelliously sneaks into the not yet open Gallery of Greatness where she meets some rather brilliant women – Emmeline Pankhurst, Frida Kahlo, Jane Austen and Rosa Parks to name just a few.

The small, but mighty all female cast deliver a 70 minute show packed with engaging content including pop-star quality songs (Miranda Cooper, who has worked with Girls Aloud and Kylie), energetic commercial style choreography (Danielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe) which I think also cleverly includes sign-language(!) and the incredible and inspiring stories of some of history’s standout women.

Fayth Ifil captured the innocence of Jade, but also shared the courage and confidence she gains on her adventure with history. Renee Lamb (fans of Six will recognise Renee from her reign as Catherine of Aragon), Christina Modestou (also part of the queendom, Christina played Anne Boleyn in Six), Frances Mayli McCann and Jade Kennedy take on three roles each as well as providing background dancing and singing too. Favourite numbers for me were Deeds Not Words, Lullaby Little Girl and title song/finale Fantastically Great.

I loved the energy and fun this show brings, combined with it’s important message of being yourself, believing in yourself and that we can all make a difference… Great advice for young people from fantastic women who have already helped change the world.

Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World will perform at Norwich Playhouse until Sunday 2nd December 2021, for more information and to book tickets click here.
